Facilitating access to outpatient MRIs and rapid access headache clinics in order to streamline the management of headache patients.

The Challenge

While only a small proportion of headache patients have serious underlying conditions, they are one of the more common attendees of Emergency Departments.

The Solution

Our aim was to reduce Emergency Department admissions, and length of patient stays by providing an alternative headache pathway, with expedited outpatient MRI brain imaging and rapid access Neurology review.

This process will initially be a six month pilot, using funding provided from a collaboration between HSE Spark Innovation, HSE Digital Transformation, HSE Acute Hospitals Division and HSE Change and Innovation.

 

6 Month Pilot

This will initially operate as a pilot for 6 months with the funding obtained. Funding was obtain from a collaboration between HSE Spark Innovation, HSE Digital Transformation, HSE Acute Hospitals Division and HSE Change and Innovation.
